How to plan your day with an AI planner
Last updated: 2026-10-10
An AI planner does not decide for you. It removes the typing and sorting so you keep your energy for judgement. This guide walks through a day and a week in Pladay: capture, breakdown, focus plan, focus session and weekly review.
What an AI planner does and does not do
It is good at three things: reading dates, times and priority from a sentence, splitting a vague goal into small steps, and fitting the right amount of work into today. Deciding what truly matters, or which commitment to decline, is still yours. Treat AI output as a draft and skim it.
In Pladay the natural-language parser runs on your device and is instant; only generative features such as breakdown and briefing use the AI engine you choose. Capture never blocks when you are offline.
Six steps to plan a day
- Capture everything in one line Type tasks as they come to mind. Dates, times, tags and priority are read automatically; pasting several lines creates several tasks.
- Sort a brain dump Paste unstructured thoughts into the AI brain dump to turn them into a task list, then delete what you do not need.
- Break big goals into steps Run breakdown on a vague goal to get steps with time estimates. Keep the three to five that matter.
- Pick today with the focus plan Let the focus plan fit important work into the hours you have. Push what does not fit to tomorrow or later this week.
- Execute with the focus timer Start the timer on the first item, tick it off when the session ends and take a short break.
- Close the week with a review Once a week, clear the inbox, check overdue tasks, preview the next 7 days and note what went well and what did not.
Input examples
Write the way you speak; dates, times, tags and priority show up as chips while you type, so you can fix a misread at once.
- Dentist tomorrow 3pm #health !! reads as tomorrow 15:00, tag health, high priority
- Weekly review every Monday 9am becomes a repeating task
- Draft report by Friday gets this Friday as its due date
Five habits that make AI planning work
- Start goals with a verb: make 10 slides beats presentation.
- Add time estimates so the focus plan can fit your real capacity.
- Keep to three big items a day.
- Delete the steps you do not need.
- Review weekly; patterns only show up in a review.
Pick the AI engine that fits you
Pladay Cloud is the simplest, with a free quota that grows on Pro. If you prefer data to stay put, connect on-device AI or a local model on your PC, or store your own API key on this device only. Whichever engine you use, you review the result in the same place.

A weekly rhythm
On Monday choose the week's deadlines and three must-dos. On Friday open the weekly review: clear the inbox, check overdue tasks, preview the next 7 days, see the week in numbers and write a few honest lines. It takes about ten minutes, and the notes stay on your device.
FAQ
Where does my task text go when I use AI?
Only when you run a generative feature does the relevant text go to the engine you selected. Date and time parsing happens on your device, and health or cycle records are excluded from automatic AI features.
Is AI usage limited?
Pladay Cloud AI has a daily free quota that grows on Pro. Your own API key or on-device AI is not subject to it.
Can I plan offline?
Yes. Capture, list management and the focus plan work offline; only Pladay Cloud AI needs a connection.
