Pets run on routines, and so does good pet care. The daily things are easy to remember; the monthly treatments and yearly vaccines are not. Put them on a schedule once.

Before the pet comes home

Two weeks before adoption, prepare the essentials: food the animal already eats, a bed, a crate or carrier, bowls, toys and a safe space. Find a vet near you and book a first check-up for the first week. Pet-proof the home: cables, toxic plants, small objects and open balconies.

Daily and weekly routines

Feeding times, walks and litter or cage cleaning work best at the same times each day. Write them as repeating tasks only if you need the reminder; for established routines, a habit check is enough. Weekly tasks such as brushing or weighing a small animal are easy to drift on, so give them a fixed day.

Treatments, vaccines and vet visits

Flea, tick and worm treatments often repeat monthly or every few months, and vaccines usually yearly — but the exact schedule depends on the species, age, product and your vet. Ask your vet for the schedule, then enter each item once as a repeating task with the right interval, for example “Flea treatment every month on the 1st” or “Worming every 3 months”.

For products that should be given a fixed time after the last dose, use an after-done rule: “Worming 3 months after done”.

Keep a simple log
