Repeating tasks that follow real-life rules
Last updated:
Bills are due on the last day of the month, book clubs meet on the second Tuesday, plants need water three days after you last watered them. Pladay's repeats cover these rules, and you can type them in plain language.

Supported rules
- Daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, with intervals (every 2 weeks, every 3 months).
- Specific weekdays: every Monday and Thursday, every weekday.
- Nth weekday of the month: the first Monday, the second Tuesday, the last Friday.
- Day of the month: the 15th, or the last day. “Every month on the 31st” lands on the last day in shorter months instead of skipping them.
- After completion: the next date counts from the day you finish (“water plants every 3 days after done”), which suits chores and maintenance.
- Korean lunar calendar: every year on a lunar date, for birthdays, memorial days and holidays such as Chuseok (lunar 8/15). The lunar table covers 2000–2050.
How a repeating task behaves
A repeating task is one task with a rule. When you tick it off, the next occurrence takes its place with the next date from the rule. If you complete it late, a calendar-based repeat goes to the next date on the calendar, while an after-completion repeat counts from the day you actually finished.
You can change the rule at any time from the task's repeat menu, which also offers the common rules for the task's date (for example “every month on the last Friday” if the task is due on a last Friday).
Repeats in your calendar app
Repeating tasks with a date appear in your private calendar feed with a standard RRULE, so Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar show the series. Rules that calendar apps do not support — completion-based and lunar repeats — are exported as their next occurrence only.
About lunar dates
Pladay uses the Korean lunar calendar computed for Korea Standard Time. It matches the Chinese calendar in almost all years but can differ by a day when a new moon falls late in the evening; for Chinese or Vietnamese dates, double-check with a local calendar. FAQ
What happens to a repeating task I forget?
It stays overdue until you complete or reschedule it. If you have been away for a while, a fresh-start card can move overdue tasks to next week; repeating ones skip to their next date.
Can a repeat stop on a date?
Repeats created by templates can carry an end date (for example a daily study log that ends the day before the exam). A repeat count can be stored for compatibility with other calendars but is not enforced.
