Trip planning checklist: from booking to boarding
Last updated:
A good trip starts three weeks before the flight. Most travel stress comes from a handful of avoidable surprises — an expiring passport, no data on arrival, a missing adapter. A dated checklist removes them.

Three weeks before
Book flights and accommodation first, then check passport validity immediately: many countries require at least six months of validity beyond your stay, and renewal can take weeks. Check whether you need a visa or an electronic travel authorisation, and buy travel insurance once the bookings are final.
Two weeks to a few days before
- Sketch the itinerary: must-see places, opening days, reservations.
- Sort out money: a card without foreign transaction fees, some local cash if needed.
- Arrange mobile data: an eSIM, a local SIM or roaming.
- Write the packing list, including medication, chargers and plug adapters.
The last two days
Check in online, save boarding passes and booking confirmations offline, and finish packing. On the day, check passport, tickets and wallet one last time before you leave.
A packing list that covers the usual misses
- Documents: passport, visa or travel authorisation, insurance details, printed or offline copies of bookings.
- Money: two cards stored separately, a little local cash, the bank's emergency number.
- Electronics: phone and laptop chargers, plug adapter, power bank (in cabin luggage), headphones.
- Health: regular medication in its original packaging, painkillers, plasters, a copy of prescriptions.
- Comfort: a layer for the plane, a refillable bottle, earplugs and an eye mask for the night flight.
Keep your plan available offline
Airports, planes and foreign networks are exactly where connections fail. Pladay works offline: tasks, lists and notes open and change without a connection, and sync when you are back online.
Setting it up in Pladay
- Open the travel preparation template and pick the departure date; its 10 steps run from D-21 to departure day.
- The Travel module keeps the itinerary, bookings, packing list and budget for each trip, with a countdown.
- Spending on the trip can also be recorded in the Money module.
- Count the days to departure with the D-day calculator.

Will it work without data roaming?
Yes. Once Pladay has been opened on the device, it works offline. Sync and cloud AI features wait until you are online.
