Natural-language quick add
Last updated:
Write a task the way you would say it. Pladay reads the date, time, repeat, tags, list, priority and time estimate while you type, shows each as a chip you can check, and keeps the rest as the task title.

Real examples
These rows are produced by the same parser the app uses, for a sentence typed on a Friday morning. Tap “Try this” to open the sentence in Pladay's capture box.

What it understands
- Dates: today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, weekdays (“friday”, “next monday”), relative dates (“in 3 days”, “in 2 weeks”) and calendar dates (“Oct 20”, “2026-12-03”).
- Times: “3pm”, “15:00”, “at 9:30”. A time that has already passed today moves to tomorrow.
- Repeats: every day, every weekday, every Monday and Wednesday, every month on the 1st, the last Friday of every month, every 3 days after done, and more — see repeating tasks.
- Tags and lists: #tag adds a tag, @List files the task into an existing list.
- Priority: ! to !!! or p1–p3 (p1 is highest).
- Time estimate: ~45m or ~1.5h, used by the focus plan to fit your day.
Twelve languages, mixed freely
The parser works in Korean, English, Japanese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Vietnamese and Thai. It also detects the script you type in, so a Korean phrase is understood even when the app is set to English. Languages have their own grammar rules, such as Korean particles and Thai time expressions.
Instant, offline and private
Parsing happens on your device, with no network request and no AI model, so it is instant and works offline. Nothing you type is sent anywhere to understand the date. Generative AI features such as breaking a task into steps are separate and only run when you ask (see the AI planner).
Capture even faster
- Paste several lines at once to create several tasks.
- Share text from another app to Pladay (installed app on Android and desktop) or use the bookmarklet in a desktop browser; it opens the capture box with the text filled in.
- Use the home-screen shortcut “Quick add” on Android to open the input directly.
- Press N or Q anywhere in the app on a keyboard to jump to the input.
When it reads something wrong
Each recognised part is highlighted as you type, so you see the interpretation before saving. If a word should stay in the title (for example a film called “Tomorrow”), edit the date in the task afterwards. Words that are not next to a date expression are left alone; “lunar eclipse photo” stays a title.
FAQ
Do I need to learn a special syntax?
No. Plain sentences work. The symbols (#, @, !, ~) are optional shortcuts for tags, lists, priority and estimates.
Does quick add use AI or send my text to a server?
No. It is a rule-based parser that runs on your device. Your text only reaches a server if you sign in to sync your tasks.
Can I use it with Slack or Telegram?
When those integrations are enabled, the /pladay command in Slack and the Telegram bot add tasks with the same parser.
