Notion for tasks, or a dedicated planner?
Last updated:
Notion can model almost any workflow, which is exactly why many people use it for tasks — and why some find it slow for quick daily planning. This page compares the approaches, not just the apps.

When Notion is the better choice
- Tasks are part of documents, specs or a team wiki and should live next to them.
- You want custom databases, relations and views tailored to a project.
- Your team already works in Notion.
When a dedicated planner fits better
- You want to capture a task in two seconds from your phone, with the date set from the sentence (quick add).
- You want reminders, repeats, a focus timer and habits without building them.
- You want your personal plan to work offline and stay on your device by default.
Using both together
A common split: projects and documentation in Notion, today's tasks and personal life in a planner. Pladay can export notes and tasks to a Notion page you choose when the Notion connection is available.
How to import from Notion
- Sign in to Pladay and open Integrations → Notion, then connect. In Notion's consent screen, pick the pages and databases Pladay may read.
- Search and select what to import. Pages become notes; a database becomes a list whose items become tasks, with title, date, done status and multi-select tags.
- Start the import and follow the progress. Re-running it does not create duplicates.
- If the Notion connection is not shown on your account, copy item titles from a Notion database and paste them into Pladay's input; each line becomes a task.
FAQ
Does importing change anything in Notion?
No. The import only reads the pages and databases you selected.
Can Pladay sync with Notion continuously?
No. Import is a one-time copy, and export sends a copy to a Notion page. There is no continuous two-way sync.
